Lots to think on

I am back from the opthalmologist (try typing that fast!) Absolutely lovely guy and nice and frank which I appreciate greatly.

He's got a damn good idea what's going on with my vision, he reckons it is "pseudotumour cerebri" in other words, the fluid in my skull is under pressure and causing the nerve to be swollen and irritated. I have been referred for either a CT or MRI scan to make sure there isn't an actual tumour in my skull and then more tests will be carried out.

They've contacted Halifax general for the scan and I am to ring them with the date once I know so they can make the follow-up appt.

He's also referred me to a gastro specialist at Halifax. Being overweight is a big factor in the increased intracranial pressure and as it is sight-threatening I might be eligible for surgery on the NHS. The condition is also known to occur with a hypothalamus abnormality in the section that regulates hunger. I admitted that I cannot achieve full easily and dieting just leaves me frustrated and annoyed. So yeah, lots to think about.

Oh no,

Please keep telling about what they find out and how to treat this.
I wish for you not having to become a 'zipperhead' like me.
It sure is not fun.
MRI displays those things better than CT, so lets hope, they do an MRI and save you from an unnecessary appointment.
