Yay and grrrr

On the yay side I have 2 skeins of DK pure wool dyed up to stock my shop and have split off about 12 lots of merino tops to dye.

On the grr side, I couldn't find the right green to make cousin's daughter Alison'sstocking so I decided to dye the wool myself and then use that. Silly me though, put it in the bottom of the steamer and so the blue/pink/purple above it leaked and now there's a little spot of purple. Ah well, makes it unique.

Also on the grrr side, I'm out of vinegar so I'm going to the pharmacy tomorrow to see if I look innocent enough to get citric acid crystals. Also, just when I'm in the mood to niddy-noddy umpteen hanks to dye my scales have died so I can't weigh the cone to track when I've wound off 100g hanks. Grrrrr! Would you believe we have zero 9v batteries in this house? Well, unless I nick the one from the smoke detector but I a) can't as it's too high off the floor and b) ain't that stupid. Alright, it usually goes off with pork products to the point we call it the bacon/sausage detector but I'm not unplugging it.

On the plus side citric acid smells a whole lot less than vinegar so I won't chase hubbie off every time I do dyeing.

So, note to self:
Tomorrow you are to:
post hammocks to UK ferret person
Get citric acid crystals
get 9v battery or 2
put in repeat for this month and next and get reminder card
