Lovely

It's 9.50am and I have already:
  • Put out the laundry
  • Sorted balls into my stash
  • Got out some cotton and bamboo to dye this week
  • Put the christmas tree in the back garden
  • Swept the living room and kitchen
Ahhh, lovely. I had a nice shift this morning, sun was shining, not too cold or warm and everyone was smiling. I also got a *two* hugs off the little cuddler. He may not make it past my waist even when I'm in sandals but it's lovely to get a hug in the morning.

Last night was wonderful too. It was Valley Fibres meeting in the White Lion in Hebden and at first I was a little worried as I was the first to ask directions and turn up, on my own in a huge room is worrying. I needn't have fussed though, 2 minutes later a lady with a wheel turned up then another and quite rapidly the room filled with wheels, spindles and k-needles. The couple who arranged it all had a spare Ashford wheel and were kind enough to let me have a go. Pete and Carol gave me a little advice so I sat and treadled for a bit to get the hang, first 5 minutes the poor wheel didn't know which direction to go but then I got the hang and had a chat with the ladies either side of me. Then it was time to draft and treadle, Ann (I think her name is??) started it off for me and then it was my go, wow! It's hypnotic and so amazingly soothing, the wheel practically spins itself with your foot just knowing when to push and lift. I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to draft quick enough as I usually park my spindle when I draft for that but I managed until I was treadling too slow for my fibre and it fell apart, I was rescued and decided to call it quits while I was ahead and let someone else have a go. I did consider asking for my first wheel-spun off the bobbin but nah.

I want a wheel now, when we have the money and the space! Without the tree in the living room we probably could fit one but not yet.

Oooooh, I feel lovely this mornink.
