New Dyeings

So the sun inspired me this week and I have done some dyeing. As I was doing cotton and bamboo I used my Procion dyes which meant I had to leave them lying on the living room floor temptingly wrapped to make sure the dye took.

So this morning I watched the Dark Knight (6/10 from me, not that amazing). Then I got to unwrapping and washing the skeins......

I laid them on that towel as I finished then placed an old plastic bag over each skein and walked on it to squish out most of the water. Finally I pegged them up by their ties.

So, from left to right:
One hank mercerised cotton in black and purple. The black came out more purple but it still stands out enough to look very gothic. Also, I make the purple by mixing turqouise and fuschia so sometimes the odd lighter patch appears or even a blue bit, never a pink though.

Next two are hanks of bamboo tape dyed at the same time so they share colour distribution. Alas one has a knot but as it was dyed *after* the knot the colour repeat isn't affected.

The last two are crochet cotton (good for lace knits I've found) in bright summery colours and an attempt at self-patterning with white/black sections.

Now I really am going to check one thing on EBay and then drag my rocking chair into the sun and knit!
