So, as you probably all know by now, Thomas has been in the Wars, last week he had a tummy upset and this week his rear end has been a little weak.
Well after he screamed the place down last night we saw the vet this morning. She took x-rays and there's nothing wrong with his bones. His kidneys, liver, pancreas all feel fine but his mid-spine down are very tender. He hasn't been able to leave his bed to relieve himself.
There are two things high on the "probably this" list:
Lymphoma - a cancer of the lymph system, no known cure
Some long-named thing - newly entered the ferret world, ominously it starts with diarrhoea and rear end weakness, ends in complete nerve death.
I cannot tell you how distressed I was when I got him home.
Anyway, as it's a long weekend this weekend we're having a last attempt to get him better as he's still bright eyed and still interested in life. So I have "Prednicare" steroids and the usual antibiotics (steroids lower immune function so the AB's act as a back-up) to give twice a day until Tuesday when we decide.
I can't bear to think anything but he's going to get better. I put Lou to sleep in February, losing my 3yo cuddle-bug is too much to consider.
So I ask you all, whatever religion you may or may not practice, please wish my little boy the best.
Thank you.
