In the end the general consensus was that A) my wheel needs work and may only ever be good enough for an uneven yarn and B) there's an Ashford up for grabs and I'm at the top of the list so long as the current owner will accept me paying in monthly installments. So Tuesday 16th June I shall have an Ashford Traditional, a pair of carders and a niddy-noddy if she's happy with the arrangement.
So, yes, the weekend. Absolutely fantastic weather, sun, dry, gorgeous! loads of people walking along the canal path so we put Baaaaaaarbara out to catch attention:

You wouldn't believe the number of dogs that bluntly refused to walk past this "sheep", some were completely spooked, one would only go past once we moved the sheep inside and one sat on it's haunches and barked at her. The collies amused me the most, they wanted to herd it but it didn't move.
We had loads of stuff on display:
Peg loom, a shawl by me and some natural dyeing stuff and my dyed cottons:

Various plants for dyeing naturally:

(I got to keep these and re-potted them today)
Rugs made on peg loom and rug loom by the talented duo of Sue and Martin

Knitted things and rolags:

The corner where we sat and spun:

Sue was excellent and was happy to teach me to card fleece and make rolags to spin from. She brought in a Jacob's fleece for a lady who'd got a fleece but it was too old to do much but make twine from and as I'd given this lady some of my linseed oil she gave me half the Jacob so I carded most of that and started spinning it on my drop spindle. I got a pretty even single that I plan to use for a lace project I have in mind.
So, yes, over the weekend I got a fair bit of spinning done.

From left to right:
"hope" falkland tops from Black Cat Fibres (plied)
"Jacobino" It has one rolag of merino that Sue kindly let me try(single)
"Northern Lights"(I think) Merino tops from Freyalyn (plied on spindle, spun on wheel)
I also made about 17 jacob rolags to spin into more singles. The single above is only 62.2yds so I need about 10 of those for a big project or about 5-7 for the project I have in mind.
Also this holiday I decided I was going to attack the back garden. I resisted the temptation to just get a flame-thrower and instead got a lift with Alison, grabbed hubbie on the way past and went to Tesco. I got a garden fork, 50l of compost and some new pots.
So I spent 2 hours in the back garden and attacked it. I pulled up all the green'/white grassy stuff that had invaded and dug up another plant that was just sprawling out and chuck them on the compost heap:

I generally tidied, moved some little plants to the newly cleared spots and picked out all the fag-packet-wrappers that had invaded. I then potted my newly aquired dye plants and arranged those. So our garden now looks more organised:

I was given some anti-slug tape earlier this year and finally installed it. I wrapped it round the Woad, Weld and one-I-can't-remember pots to hopefully protect them then used the last of it to hopefully stop the annoying slimy things invading the kitchen.
Anyhooo, Golf on the Wii now :)
