Been enjoying the sun

First some Emerald Green and Fuschia Pink:

I rather cocked this lot up as I added the mordant at the start so some of the cotton noils didn't take:

I'm going to let them dry overnight and see if they want overdyeing tomorrow.

The viscose (seen hanging between the two pots) took amazingly well. It's a pleasure to dye but doesn't half scrunch up when wet. Sort of like a super-absorbent cotton.

I also did some Turquoise and Lemon Yellow. I added the mordant after 40 minutes and it did take a lot better. The yellow after rinsing looks more like vomit but we'll see when it dries.

I also worked on my hemlock in my rocking chair:

I really want to decorate that chair, I hate the white but I've looked at the repairs it's had over time and know that stripping the paint off won't look nice either. Maybe next month a trip to Hobbycraft again to get some stencils and paints. Unless any of my local readers know somewhere?

So yes, round 41 of the hemlock is in progress. Only one more patterned round then three rounds of knit before starting the feather and fan rounds. Kewl. My knitting mojo is waning at the moment. 2 weeks of hols has slowed me, the ferrets haven't had all the time they should either. Ah well, 2 more nights and it's back to work. Going to be a jolt to the system getting up at 7.30am rather than 2pm but I'll manage. I plan to sort, list and photograph my entire stash so that should keep me awake on Monday atleast.

Goodness knows what I'm going to do over the 6 week summer holiday. Maybe finally get the cleaning sorted that I meant to do this holiday. Jo has been spontaneous this fortnight and he's done anything but help me clean *sigh* On the sort-of plus side we've now got an order for the washing up: he does it over the holidays, I do it during term time. If we hadn't had an estate agent over to let us know the value of the place the kitchen would still be lost. My husband does not "do" washing up. He got it ALL done Wednesday evening (yes, I was dragged in to help) so what does the kitchen look like now? Yep, you guessed it, a tip again! During term time I shall hope my example might let him see how easy it is to prevent this. I shall do it when I get back from my morning shift each day and hopefully it'll weedle its way into his head.

Hah, yeah.

Anyhoo, thinking of the fuzzies, I shall go scoop the poop, top up food and water and make sure they're all okay. Will also do some ferret laundry this week, I binned a lot of old bedding and they only have 3 sets now, they're sleeping in the 3rd set (oops).

Maybe I can get control over the human laundry that never seems to stop.
